"Great Odin, Master of the Runes, It is best to develop a connection between you and your runes by either shaking or mixing them with your hands. Soon you will be able to feel a powerful bond between you and your Runes.
When casting the runes, some people draw the relevant number of runes out of their bag one at a time. (But since your bag is also your "rune cloth" on which to cast your runes, it is recommended that you spread all the runes out on another surface face down.) Then select the number of required runes and turn them over, one by one sideways (not top to bottom). Turning them over in this manner is important because reversed runes (upside down) have an additional significance. A reversed rune means that either the energy of the rune is blocked or that whatever is happening is being felt unconsciously. It is not cause for alarm.
Finally, you will have the most success with your runes if you treat them as something special; and your rune readings as an activity set apart from mundane daily life. You will want to keep your runes in a place of honor when you are not using them.
